Various Belt Bags, Pouches and Tarsoly [pronounced ’tar-shoy] were worn by the Scandinavian Vikings. An influence that had moved westwards from the Magyar, Khazar and other Nomadic Steppe Tribes. The Belt Bags are hung by a strap or straps from the Belt and ornamented with Plaques, Plates and Mounts. The strap often served as a closing and locking fixture. Flints, Tinder, Strike-a-light and other necessities were kept in these Bags.
